One of our esteemed associates, George T. Pallas, is representing Jose Acosta, 22, in a court of law. Mr. Acosta is a Miami police officer who is facing 34 total counts of various charges, including armed grand theft, petty theft, false imprisonment, and armed burglary.
Mr. Acosta was arrested on March 10 after a sting operation by the Miami Police Department’s internal affairs division and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Both departments were responding to many people’s complaints about Acosta’s theft.
Law enforcement says Acosta pulled over an undercover agent and stole $1,250 while searching the agent’s vehicle and pockets. That same day, Mr. Acosta allegedly conducted 5 unreported traffic stops and had each driver step out of his or her vehicle. Each car was searched, and the drivers were released without citations. Mr. Acosta was arrested outside his apartment after he arrived home after work. He has been working for the department since May 2016.
Mr. Pallas plans to deny the accusations that Mr. Acosta is charged with, saying, “Mr. Acosta is a young officer who has dedicated himself to the community and has worked hard and is in this unfortunate circumstance.”
George T. Pallas has practice DUI and criminal law exclusively in Miami-Dade County. He is extremely experienced in his field, having handled more administrative DUI hearings at the DMV than almost any lawyer in the entire state. He has more than 30 years of experience in criminal law.
